It's great it was restored but it's a travesty that they took this opportunity to "modernize" it. An agnostic politician like Macron should not have been allowed to have any role in such a sacred process.
Traditional buildings should be preserved. It's like putting IKEA furniture into Versailles.
The Violet le Duc stained glass should be restored. No reason to replace undamaged portions with brand new modern stained glass.or modernize furniture. It's the eccentricities of these old buildings that make them so cool. It looks sterile and brand new now on the interior.
All the patina off of 1000 years whitewashed away, like a Chip and Joanna Gaines light and airy remodel.

For those who are discomfited by the reconstruction of the Nortre Dame, should remember the building was already being restored at the time of the fire. The complaints would still be made about the new look.
I recall the towers are relatively knew additions to the original building.
I am not remotely religious but I never wish harm on incredible architecture. I was upset when I learned of the fire and destruction but so admiring of the time and attention, love an affection towards returning the Notre Dame Cathedral to its former glory and new imaginative ideas that make it even more a sight to behold!!

They did an amazing job. The wife and I got to see it back in 2012 and were heartbroken when the fire happened. Much brighter inside now than before the fire. It looks stunning.
Absolutely beautiful!! Amazing work and craftsmanship, of everyone who put their time and effort into this iconic building restoration. I am in Awe, I hope to be able to visit soon, as it still stands to be visited, and admired while soaking up the incredible history of this place. Congratulations from Idaho, USA.

It is the highest irony that much resources are spent to rebuild a place of worship that practically no one in France uses for that purpose anymore. Notre Dame is now a museum of christianity, not a church.

Thank you to all the people around the world who love Notre-Dame and appreciate the work done by French craftsmen to restore it and bring it back to life. Our president won his bet, launched in 2019, to reopen the cathedral after 5 years of work. As a French woman, I am very proud and very moved. But I just watched a program on a French TV channel live and I only read negative comments about President Macron in the chat. The French only know how to complain and criticize. It's desperate. So I seek refuge on foreign channels and it warms my heart. Thank you all!
