  1. Great video mate,I remember the views in the house near Vrstsa, stunning,my experience talking to locals in Bulgaria, they was much better off,not perfect, village shops all open, everyone in work,so many abandoned villages now, young people moving or working abroad, can't blame them, the most rapidly shrinking population in Europe, only 6 million now, compared to 45 million in Romania, but Bulgaria won't die, because the Mafia will keep it going, because it's important for the drug and people trafficking trade, sad but a fact

  2. Not being rude Ian but this video shows you don't need to upgrade your bike .himmy 411 is ideal for this job in my opinion.buy another bike for the other needs .the 452 is a good bike thy it .nothing lost nothing gained

  3. Ye gods Ian I should think Sue was having kittens watching you climbing up and sliding down mine entrances when she edited this video. Not much point in trying to convince her it was a stunt double I suppose šŸ˜‚
Very interesting video Ian thank you.
Wishing you a speedy recovery šŸ‘

  4. That's a perfect bike for that kind of adventure. As nice as a 650 might be you might find it a little heavy for that type of exploring. Good to see you out and about and sharing the scenery with us. Well done. Take care and stay safe.

    BJ

  5. Incredibly interesting video Ian. Fantastic surroundings for you to have lived, although it must be difficult to ride past your old house. Copper mining looks to have started at more or less the same time as ours here in North Staffordshire finished, but when you talk about news being suppressed during the soviet era, I have to wonder how many other incidents/disasters the outside world never heard about.
Thanks for sharing this Ian, Bulgaria's one of the countries we know so little about. šŸ‘

  6. Lovely video great scenery . Imo you done the right thing selling up no good living in a place ur not appreciated . Sad but true u find a lot of the nicer places find it hard to accept foreigners. Good luck on your health and hello to sue . Ian and sue your house now is spectacular and I rather live there then your other house

  7. Every ride is a small adventure you try to make. I had no idea about that dam and disaster.. The information suppression is 2nd to no other then the eastern block .. Stunning views non the less.

  8. Very interesting video Ian. I hope that you are feeling better.

On the Himalayan power issue, it would be interesting to see the BSA 650 single engine as an upgrade. Not sure if it would be feasible, but it appears in the UK that the prices of the BSA are currently very reasonable. All the best.

  9. Rode in a similar place in the Albanian hills, pretty sure if anything bad would have happened i would be found in about 10 years, great fun at the time but deadly if the shit hits the fan. Hope you are on the mend, greetings from Kosovo.

  10. Glad to see you back and hope your stay well
A similar disaster happened in South wales UK when I live there in the mid 60s when the tailings from a coal mine let go after massive flooding rains
They roared down the mountain into and over a School that was full of children most of whom were killed with a massive loss of life – I remember it well as there were so many volunteers from my town that were told not to show up as too many volunteers were already there – terrible history out there in places that most people never hear about
Very interesting story and thanks for sharing
    Regards from Florida
