hello, I have a canyon stoic 4, the bike is very good but there is one thing that bothers me a little, which is the hub is very silent, after some research I saw that it is not necessary to change the hub but just replace the ratchet. 18t (if I'm not mistaken the stoic 4 comes with 18 but I'm not sure) to 54T so I will have a faster response to pedaling and there will be a louder noise, but as I'm no expert I'm not sure if Is it really possible to do this so I wanted someone to tell me if it's possible to do this, another question I saw two options for sale one from dt swiss itself which is 90€ and I saw another on aliexpress which also doesn't look bad it costs 27 euros someone Do you know if it's good?

  1. IndefinitelyVague on

If you have DT hubs and the 54t is compatible yea it’s way better but not too much louder.

  2. Wouldn’t trust aliexpress 54t dt ratchets… Also consider 36t from Facebook or craigslist from people upgrading to 54t.

A lot of newer stock wheels come with 36t. Count how many clicks per rotation of wheel. Or take it apart and count the number or teeth yourself.

36t are slightly stronger than 54t. You’ll also want to make sure you have the right ratchet, dt makes like 3 types of free hub mechanisms.
