Hi guys! A while back, I picked up this wonderful Trek 5000 OCLV. It's very much a road bike, and currently has 700x23c road tires on it. I have really enjoyed getting into cycling, but want to do a bit more gravel riding, as I have some fantastic river trails in my area.
Have any of you run smaller gravel tires on a carbon road bike like this? Would this be something you would recommend? If so, what size tires would you recommend going for? Would this necessitate new rims as well?
If you'd be against riding this bike on gravel, would you have budget gravel bike recommendations I can keep an eye out for (sub $200)?

I would not use this as a gravel bike. At all.
