Just got these hayes dominion A4's installed and this is how they squeeze. Both lever reaches are fully extended to about 3" from the bar. The front brake squeezes all the way to the bar (+/-3" of modulation) and feels like it has or is about at full stopping power at the bar, Haven't ridden on a trail yet. the rear brake squeezes less and has about 1"of modulation. It has a shimano feel to it. The adjuster screws on the sides are set the same. I messed with them and they don't affect modulation or bite point. They feel like 2 different brakes. I'm thinking the sweet spot is in the middle at +/-2" of modulation.

A few questions for those who use these brakes:
– How much modulation is normal?
– With the right bleed can i get +/- 2" of modulation?
– Does the rear brake have too much oil while the front doesn't have enough and thats what causes such disparity?

I have the same brakes as you , and I only get around 0.75inch of modulation before my wheels lock up.

I’m relatively sure that yours isn’t bleed well. Have you tried following Hayes’s guide?

If not , then save yourself the pain and get a bike mechanic to bleed it.

Also you will have to bed in new pads and rotors.[here are my brakes](https://imgur.com/a/jhuB81L)
