Best part is he’s literally in the top .1 (.01?) percent of skill level for cyclists but it’s still his fault.

Jesus, if a literal world champion riding in a cycling paradise like Belgium can get doored and seriously injured, what hope is there for the rest of us?

I don’t get why people still ride close to doors. I assume that every single car door will swing open in a second and that is how I drive. I hope recovers and doesn’t have lasting injuries. And fuck media framing bicycle accidents like they are unavoidable fate and cardrivers can’t do much against it… It’s not too hard to check mirrors and over your shoulder

They use passive voice to avoid accountability for the asshole who swung the door open.

It’s a sobering thought. Need to keep vigilant about out there. Every vehicle wants to harm you should be your mindset. Stay safe people

Not saying it’s his fault, but I never ride within dooring range, ever. Yes, I know who he is, I follow him on Strava. Hope he can recover soon.

I magically avoided being doored in Chicago but when I swerved left a car sent me majestically flying through the air. Sometimes no one is to blame and I would rather assume the door opener didn’t have a cyclist on their mind. Unless you like made eye contact with them pre-dooring. Assume nobody is paying attention. Be a defensive rider.
