I have a local guy trying to sell a 2016 yeti 4.5c for $2000 and a spare frame (without the infinity switch with an additional spank wheel seat for $1000. I’m definitely not paying 3k for a soon-to-be 9 yr old bike but was considering offering $1,500 for everything. Would that be a good deal or would you look elsewhere for $1500? Have drivetrains etc really improved that much since 2016?
The bike looks brand new (aside from a sticky dropper post – I’ve seen it in person) and the guy was a Yeti collector, now selling off his collection, so I don’t think it’s seen much time in the wild.

So why does he have a spare frame?
I think its probably worth it at $1500. Not sure how much mileage a person would actually get out of an extra frame so I would have a hard time paying extra for that, but spare parts are spare parts. Those 1×11 drive trains are rock solid. For reference I sold my sb6 with a coil over and carbon wheels 3 years ago for 2K, but that was more of a sellers market than what we are in now.
Its good that its a boost bike that you can still get spare parts for, its bad that its got the shorter reach and slacker seat tube from that era, its ugly that the bottle cage is outside of the frame. I hate riding with a pack and I broke more bottle cages on the front of the bike than i care to admit.
Just know geometry has improved a lot since 2016. And it’s a buyers market rn plenty of good deals.
