Shannon and Marco get itchy feet and book a flight from Montreal to Lisbon with Air Transat. The 6.5 hour flight got us into the Portuguese capital at 8 am. We found a quiet corner of the airport and built our bikes. We changed into t-shirts and shorts and rode to a Decathlon sports store to buy a camping fuel canister. Then we headed downtown to the ferry. We stopped along the way for coffee and a pastry. We took the ferry across and pedaled south on busy and narrow roads until we diverged onto quiet and twisty roads. So fun! We camped at an Ecoparque just west of Setùbal, a busy port town. We had tea with Karsten and Keirsten, a German couple who were camping beside us. Then shower, supper, some reading , and lights out at 8:30 pm….it had been a long day with very little sleep (red-eye flight!).
Lisbon airport to campground: 52km

I assume you are taking your bikes home. Where do you plan to get new boxes for them?
Good luck on your trip, we're from Squamish BC and are currently in Bispo Portugal heading to Lisbon. We started out from Paris in early September, biked across France and Spain and into Portugal a week or so ago. Endured some awful weather in Spain and also some great riding. We are now heading north in a rental car a the weather doesn't look great and we have a flight to catch.
Best Wishes,
Dave and Wendy.
