No youre not crazy. Yes it is too high. Also i hope the second pic is the better saddle height for you
I think the bracket that goes from the 2 holes on the rack to the single hole on the frame should be vertical to better transfer loads.
I wouldn’t get attached to it. Any of those racks that are not a part of the frame always fail, eventually.
My partner had one of those racks for 1 trip, it was held together with tape and zip ties by the end and I was carrying all the weight. I think the idea is it gives more heel clearance but with flimsy brackets. Bought an OMM divide and no issues since then.
