    Cycling Southern Italy in Winter: Part One // World Bicycle Touring Episode 14



    We took a ferry from Athens to Methana then rode along the Gulf of Corinth to Patras before catching a ferry to Bari, Italy. We spent a few days in Bari then headed towards Sicily, passing through Matera and struggling to find a decent route off the main coastal highway.

When you got on the ferry in Patras, did you see all kinds of refugees trying to scale the plexiglass partition next to the drive up before the ticket building?       Beautiful landscapes, indeed sometimes the road infrastructure in southern Italy is lacking.. for lack of a better term :). As an Italian, your videos provide inspiration for trip planning!

      Great footage guys! Tech question: how do you cover your foots in very cold weather? You got some sort of covers or just heavy wool sock? Or yet winter shoes?

      Hello, I was just looking for a review for a randonneur bicycle and you guys came up as a suggestion and I am so happy. Love both of your set ups, the rigs are outfitted really nice and practical and the bikes look like they are surly, a troll owner myself. Got yourselves another subscriber. Cheers. and great video and I will take those hills all day over the highway. I rode on 1-90 from Rapid City SD to Sioux Falls for a week two years ago on my west to east cross country tour of the Northern US and it was a nightmare.

      Some of those views are amazing. Seeing the footage at the beginning, I think you could give some pretty good advice on what raining jackets work and which don't. Are you happy with the ones you use ?

      Brought back some good memories of bicycling in the Puglia region. Matera is definitely an amazing place. To bad you did have time to explore more of this wonderful region of Italy.
