I was wondering if anyone has had success cleaning up their frame bag /bike interface with some DIY. I have this custom bag from Rogue Panda that I love, but I feel like the connection could be improved for my bike.
There are two sets of unused bolts in the inner frame on my Prospector, so it occurs to me I could get some kind of stiffening HDPE and put it in the bag, put through holes and perhaps remove some of the Velcro strips as it’s impossible to get them in and off around the fenders – internal hex screws could be actually easier in this respect.
Along the top, I’m having to fold under half of the Velcro tabs to work around the top tube bag, so I also wondered about converting the top run to a string/lattice style…
What do y’all think? Basically looking for some success stories of anyone who’s attempted something similar and not wrecked their frame bag!

I make frame bags. If you have access to a sewing machine and seam ripper you could convert it to lace-up somewhat easily. Just rip the seams connecting the existing velcro straps and add small webbing/grosgrain loops for the lacing. There will likely be some seam binding that you’d have to partially remove first, and then sew back on at the end. The bolt on conversion should work but putting a stiffener on the inside will cause the contents to rattle against it.
BTW Rogue Panda is super cool and if you asked nicely they might convert it for you for a fee.
