I don't know anything about repainting frames plz help!!
I'm planning to get a Dolan Pre Cursa. Personally, I don't like how it looks, so I've decided to repaint it. My plan is to first strip the paint and then repaint it in a gunmetal/raw steel color. Does anyone know of a good paint in that color? Also, what's the cheapest, fastest, and most effective way to remove paint from the frame?
I want the frame to look like this one terry b has it just looks so nice
Also, Iād like to avoid damaging the frame, so does stripping the paint cause any damage?

Your frame is alloy. It’s not going to develop a patina like a steel frame. This Terry frame looks like it has been through some kind of acid wash or coating followed by clear coat to achieve the finish.. This isn’t achievable with aluminum. Best bet to strip the frame is going to be the strongest paint remover you can find, followed by sanding. Aluminum looks good raw when sanded to an even finish, but it won’t look like the Terry frame, more like a raw AC2 or something.
Why get a pc if you don’t like how it looks ? the easiest way here is to literally buy the frameset you want, the pre-order is still open.
But yea, you could remove the paint of the frame either using a chemical paint-stripper or by media-blasting it. If you actually want the steel finish on an aluminium frame then there are paints with steel-particles in them, or just do a gunmetal acrylic. Getting a good base-coat, multiple layers of paint and then clear coat are very important as well as prepping the frame accordingly – sandinging it down lightly and masking everything you don’t want any paint on.
You can damage a frame by either not washing it properly after using a chemical stripper or blasting it too long/with a media that is too rough, but Dolans paint comes of very easily so that shouldn’t really happen.
But like actually, why not just buy the affinity x terry b frameset ?
