Hi everyone! I don’t know a lot of the terminology so please bear with me. I was having an issue where my rear wheel wasn’t turning when I pedaled. I left it at my LBS overnight, and when I picked it up today, it is riding very smooth. They also replaced the chain. However, I couldn’t get my bike to shift up into the 7th or 8th gear. I went back and asked the guy, and he said that I couldn’t go into those gears and explained why, but I didn’t quite understand due to language barrier. I almost always ride in the 7th or 8th gears so this is very inconvenient. I also tried manually moving the chain to the next gear but it was skipping horribly when I tried to ride it.
What’s going on with my gears? Do I need to replace the cassette? I am living in a rural area of a developing country so I’m working with limited resources here. Thank you so much!

The chain and cassette look in very good condition from that photo.
If it was going into all the gears before you took it to your mechanic then it should go into them again. Take it back to him or take it to a different mechanic. This time find out exactly why he says it will not go into those gears and ask on here again.
That is s freewheel that appears to be very worn out. They might have tried to “lock out” 7 & 8 because they knew the new chain was slipping. E-bike?
Chain and cassette look fine, I suspect derailleur adjustment isn’t quite right for whatever reason… I’d take it to a different shop and see if communication is better there
The teeth on the two bottom gears are definitely worn and probably slipped LF. If you don’t know how to change and adjust it yourself, go to a different bike shop.
You almost always ride at 7 and 8 gears so these cogs are almost completely gone, new chain will skip dramatically on them. They must have screwed H screw all the way in to prevent you shifting there, and I would say that’s very good decision as other cogs look almost new. How many chainrings do you have at front?
