I’m taking my very first steps in bike maintenance — seriously, I just changed tubes for the first time ever. And after changing the rear tube, I’m pretty unsure about how I put the wheel back on. Don’t know what to do except shift it around in the quick-release. Does this look severe?

That’s tire wobble. It usually means the tire isn’t quite properly seated on the rim. You may need to add more air to pop it into place, then deflate again.
Look for mold lines in the tire going around the circumference. They should be evenly spaced away from the rim. If it dips in at any spot, that’s where the tire hasn’t finished seating in place.
Of course there’s the occasional time where a tire is actually defective and wobble happens from that, but if this isn’t a new tire and that wasn’t happening before, it’s not that.

I mean I’ve ridden worse. You can unseat the tire and put it back on, itll probably get better since you’re getting better at putting it on.
