That is an inner plate if you had enough length to remove a link and replace it with a quick link it could work. The chain does not look great though. Have you checked if it is still within 0.5 wear? You are better off replacing it.

Just change the chain. They don’t cost much and usually this stuff happens when it’s time to change the chain.
Also worth considering checking your gears for wear and giving your bike a nice clean whilst your at it 😂

Only way to tell for sure is with a chain wear indicator. Judging by how dirty it is, I’m guessing that chain had a hard life and is ready for retirement.

Looks like a fixie (correct if iam wrong), then this chain poses double danger: can snap at any time leaving you stranded, and being single speed if it snaps you may loose control of the bike and crash.
Replace asap, kmc hv408 (or Z1 if you insist) chains are dirt cheap and i have mine running on wax, after 1000km of mtb (mud and grit) its still below 0.5. Running single speed too btw, not fixed gear ofc.

Technically no, that segment of it could just be replaced but in all likelihood yes, that whole chain needs replacing. That thing looks more knackered than me. A chain wear indicator would give you an idea of how worn it is. If you don’t have that, you could use a ruler, as 36 rivets should be the equivalent of 30cm/12in. If the chain has stretched by more than .75% over that (or .5% if Shimano Cues or any 11 speed or higher on gear count. 1% if single speed), then it needs to be replaced.
