I am planning on setting these rims up tubeless and took off the rim to measure what size tape I would need. I see this covering the inside of the rim but the hole for the valve seems too large. Can I simply add sealant as is or do I need to tape over this?

not rim tape
This is a rim strip for tubed used. To setup tubeless this is removed and tubeless tape is installed.
It literally has a max pressure rating “for rim tape” listed on it…….Yes it is rim tape (or rim strip if you go that way). It does not look tubeless compatable.
Follow up question – these wheels are Shimano RX31 wheel set which upon some googling don’t appear to be tubeless compatible.
Is my best bet to try and sell them and buy different wheels?
