Kinetics already has a conversion kit to make the G-line an 11 speed https://www.kinetics-online.co.uk/folding-bikes/brompton/brompton-g-line-conversion-kits/

This seems like a bit of a no-brainer. Is it likely that Brompton will release a g-line using the alfine 11 speed in the future?

Not sure why you’d need a kit though, just get the rim rebuilt onto an 11-speed hub (any decent LBS can do that) swap out the shifter and if you must give Bropmton some money then you could buy the official shift cable form them, personally once I pull the trigger on mine (spring sometime I expect) then I’ll be recabling in Link cables anyway (Jagwire or Alligator, Nocon is hard to get in the UK I find), I’ve got a couple of 11-speed regular Brompton’s and I find the shift reliability is better with the Link cables

  2. 👌, Considering the 12speed Bromptons have 400+ % gear range, a 400+ % gear range for the trail capable G Line makes sense.

  3. I don’t have one but from what I hear, 11 speed Alfine has occasional issues but the 8 speed one is practically bombproof.

In addition to keeping costs down they probably went with it to minimise issues they have to fix under warranty.
