Can you see any cracks? It would be an easy sell at $100. You could get $200 probably. I was not expecting it to be that old tho. One eBay listing says it’s from ‘93.

  2. Specialized spoked wheels are quite heavy and overbuilt. They don’t bring the same value as a spinergy, ambrosia, jdisc, etc.

    I’ve seen them locally $100-150cad.

  3. Hey, I sold one in good condition for 230 a couple months ago, after taxes and shipping it comes out to 175ish

Maybe. I would not ride an old carbon fiber wheel. Carbon fiber doesn’t last more 10-15 years before the matrix breaks down even unused and well cared for. This wheel looks a little abused.

  5. Is it actually carbon fiber? I was given one just like this and there is a small label that says Dupont Composites. One side has a threaded section which I believe might take a seven speed freewheel. I used it up front for one TT just for fun. I got it for free and have been looking for a rear to use on a fixed gear, local short trip bike. Spacing on my wheel is too narrow for the rear.

Just looked and I have the same wheel as this one. [Tri-spoke wheel](https://www.ebay.com/itm/235062484950?)

Smooth finish, no carbon weave visible.

Clincher? Hopefully not sew ups. They were quite popular in that Era and are expensive and getting more difficult to find given tubeless options.

  7. This is one of the first (if not the first) successful composite/carbon wheels that could compare with a spoked wheel performance wise IIRC. IIRC it was developed by another company and marketed by Specialized (could it have been Zzip?).

I would not ride a carbon wheel from 1992 (you never know), but for a city bike or a garage bike, maybe. probably worth more than 100 bucks, would be worth more if you had the front wheel too.
