Boden or Buden is a town in Norrbotten county in Sweden, the center of the municipality of the same name. It is located on the left bank of the Luleelven River. The population is about 20,000 people.
The first official mention of Buden dates back to the early 16th century. Buden received the status of a city in 1919. At the beginning of the 20th century the Buden fortress was built in the town
The nearest large city is Luleå, located 35 km southeast of the municipality, on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia. Buden stretches for almost 100 km along the Luleelven River. About 75% of the area is covered by forests.
