Slap bang in the middle of Wiltshire, in the south west of England, is an inconspicuous farm track that leads to a hidden paradise – a treehouse, suspended in the air, supported only by the tree canopies that surrounds it.

Miles from the nearest village, pub and even shop, it was the perfect destination for me and my oldest friend to spend a few nights in nature and away from the hustle and bustle of our busy city lives.

Over a warm July weekend – with the treehouse miles from the nearest train station and inaccessible by car – me and my best mate packed our gear into bikepacking bags and jumped on our bikes, cycling the 50 miles from Bristol to our treehouse home for the weekend.

Our route took us down the Bristol to Bath cycle path, along the Kennet & Avon Canal, and through the stunning lanes through Devizes towards Marden. We also explored the beautiful, historic Avebury Henge and Stone circle, and enjoyed a much-needed weekend in nature spent round the campfire.
