The M181 was one of the UK’s smallest motorways but recently it has become even smaller!

We take a look at what has happened to this short motorway and why, and also have a look at dispelling some of the myths surrounding why the authorities have installed a new temporary motorway number on the old section of the M181.

We also look at what those blue marker boards you may have noticed every half a kilometre on the side of every single motorway.

Thanks for watching.

  1. One unanswered question in this video is,.Who put #### in scunthorpe ? Thats going to be a massive housing development looking at the size of those fields, not sure scunny would be my 1st choice to live and work, is their much new industry up there now, ? ive been there only a couple of times over the last 52 years,. Obviously that stretch will lose its motorway status to allow learner drivers and cyclists tractors pedestrians etc access to the housing estates, otherwise it would be cut off to unauthorised traffic,. One other thing is i hope i never get stuck in a lift with the truckers eye and he starts quoting road number 500 metre marker boards from around the country,.lol,. but you are a knowledgeable fellow ,. cheers ,.

  2. The M60 also has a roundabout J18 if you want to continue on the M60 you must use the it. It also a has hard shoulder and emergency phones.🤠

  3. Used to run to scunny on nights and used the short sliproads off that roundabout for a 45 as it's not on a motorway . Wasn't long before highways coned it off ( there's still a few shown in the vid ).I had heard that the whole building project might be scuppered as the land is unstable and prone to flooding .
