  1. The volt/miami blue is still one of Trek’s GOAT paintjobs. Looks fantastic.

Kovee elite carbon wheels are already plenty light, at least for the money there are SO MANY places to save weight first. You’ll have to spend a solid amount of money to do better than the elites!

If it was me, and I wanted to make an XC race machine, I think my top priority would be getting rid of the NX drivetrain. The cranks and cassette are absolute boat anchors. If you’re serious about saving weight and OK to spend a bit of coin, light cranks are a great spot because they aren’t wear items for most people, at least not on cross country bikes. You can save a ton of weight by getting stuff like Garbaruk cassettes but as its a wear item, you have to decide whether its worth it for you. 11 speed will be lighter than 12 in most cases, choose your priority. Drivetrain stuff can be mixed and match for good performance with optimal weight savings.

Going to a SID will save a solid amount of weight. It’s probably where I’d go next.

After I’d look at bar and stem.

Then maybe start looking at other stuff like brakes, dropper, and wheels.
