You can cycle from Brentford in west London to Acton, entirely on quiet streets and protected cycle lanes.
The route is 5.7km long (3.5 miles) and makes use of Cycleway 9 and Cycleway 49.

Nice to see a ride I have done. I agree 100% about Welesley Road. I used the route north to Acton to get to C27 and then did the whole route across to Walthamstow. If you want a ride which shows the good (cycleway next to Wormwood Scrubs prison and east of Tottenham Court Road) and the bad (the bits in Kensington and Westmnister) of current TfL routes that is the one to follow. It would make for quite an extended play video.

Re: the crossing from C9 to get to the route through Fishers Lane, this will be at Windmill Rd which is a few hundred metres east of Clifton Gdns where you crossed. I understand there are issues putting the crossing at Clifton Gdns or Fishers Lane because of existing signals and bus stops. I think it will be a tiger crossing. No word yet as to when this will be done as it was part of a bigger package of works.
Doesn't Acton Park still have a 5 mph speed limit for cyclists?

omg – i often cycle from Chiswick High Road to Acton Vale, and I've never tried Rusthall Avenue – I didn't even know there was a designated cycle route through there
weirdly Google Maps (which normally uses designated cycle routes) doesn't ever suggest it
Brentford used to be the home of Brompton bicycles – am I right in thinking they have moved?
