  1. I was riding on the Venice Blvd bike lane near the beach and stopped at a light. Someone pulls up beside me and I notice it’s a custom bike. I said “nice ride.”

The rider thanks me and says “I’m Conan, what’s your name?” I introduce myself and we ride along for 2-3 minutes and talk about bikes. I ask about his custom build and he tells me how his long legs and weird body dimensions nessitate a custom build.

We part ways down the road he was headed back to his place in the Marina. Just before he turns away Conan says “nice talking to you, Bo. Have a good ride ”

Now, I also ask a person’s name when I first meet them, but I’m hard pressed to remember 30 seconds after I hear it. I was impressed that he had remembered my name after our conversation.

I’m sure my name was forgotten right after we parted ways. But, during that conversation he knew who I was. It goes to show how professional Conan is. I can’t even remember my server’s name at a restaurant. I bet he does.

I’ve had a handful of celebrity sightings while on my bike. I would have enjoyed a conversation with Robin Williams. As avid a cyclist as he was I’m sure he was well versed in the sport.

BTW, Conan was not riding the Colnago he described.

  2. Robin Williams ordered a Brooks messenger bag over the phone from a shop I used to work at. Wish I was the one that answered that call.

  3. Bid on a few of Robins bikes when all of them went up for sale. Knew it was slim chance I’d get one but damn he had an incredible collection of bikes!
