Anyone ever experience this? I change tires pretty often, or well, often enough especially considering the occasional flat but I’ve never had this frustrating issue where a portion of the tire refuses to seat properly. I’ve deflated, moved around, reinflated, etc several times. And it’s the same damn thing. Even with a modest overpressure. It might be hard to see in the photo but it’s not hard to see (or feel) while riding. Any tips?

Overpressure has always worked for me, you mentioned modest, but you may have to be a bit immodest 🙂 (up to sidewall / rim max, of course)

Oh edit: Also, if that doesn’t work, I’ve had luck breaking the bead, putting on dish soap / water combo around the rim / tire bead, and then overpressuring. Helps it slip up.

  2. Have you tried a spray bottle with water and some dish soap, sprayed along the beads before inflation?

Rh tires can also be a pain in the ass and not always well quality controlled. If you can’t get it might ask for a replacement.

  4. Check that your rim tape was consistently applied and that it isn’t anywhere near the rim bead.

  5. little bit of soap on the bead can help. Bouncing the tire up and down can help. Sometimes you just need to wrap your hands around the tire and try to pull it up into place with your fingertips.

  6. Soapy water, gently unseat the problem area, then blast it close to max tire/rim PSI with your air compressor/ weapon of choice.

On a set of Kenda MTB tires I had to lower the pressure, grip with my hands, and “roll” the tread in the right direction to encourage the bead to do the right thing and seat.
