Is this crankset built up correctly?

It looks like it's just had a granny gear screwed in after a spacer, rather than the 3x I'm used to seeing with two chainrings on one BCD, and a smaller BCD on the inside to mount the third ring.

I'm looking for a 3x crankset I could drop in in my Peugeot and I wonder if this is it.

I think Shimano, SR, and Sugino each had at least one model that was similar/same in having a small BCD and only one set of bolts for three rings.

It was a thing only for a short period like aero-DT shifters and under-chainstays u-brakes.

That doesn’t have the Distinctly French look of the TA Cyclotouriste, but it’ll work.

  2. Yes, bunch of older cranks (and some new garbage ones)
Have the 1st gear screwed into the 2nd
If the Peugeot was 2x before you’ll most likely need a different bottom bracket length but otherwise it’s compatible

  3. My 1984 Univega touring bike came with all three chain rings mounted together like this, but also has a separate mounting point for a smaller granny gear.

(I think? Unless that’s for mounting some kind of chain guard or something?)

  4. That’s a Stronglight 99. I have them on several bikes and it’s my favorite crank in the world. It’s absolutely correct. It also has drillium cranks available. Super versatile as a single, double or triple. Inner chainring needs spacers and it needs triple bolts.

It’s noted 14 x 1.25 which is for French threaded pedals. Those can be retapped for a standard 9/16″ pedal with pedal taps.
