I’ve been wanting to ride my Roadbike again, however I have some concerns and wondered did others starting off again faced similar concerns. Or am I just overthinking it.

Backstory: I’ve got this Roadbike back in 2015. It was a Scott CR1(Attached Picture). Used to ride daily a lot until I completely stopped and found other hobbies. Last proper ride with it was in November 2021.

So before I start off again, should I be worried about:
1) Servicing the bike? Should I send it for a full wash, servicing and re-lubing of components?
2) Last tyre changed was somewhere in early 2021. If their thread seems fine, would it be fine to still use them?
3) Is it recommended to get a new helmet?

Safe Riding everyone!

Yes, a bike shop tune-up (derailler and brake cable tension adjusting/verification, remaining brake pad material, etc) or your own tune-up, if you have the skill or desire to watch YT vids to learn, is a smart move for a bike that sits for an extended period.

My initial attention would be looking over the health of the tires, as rubber rot can affect tires that sit for a period of time (typically longer than three years), proper tire inflation, brake effectiveness, and shifting crispness. Also, I would ensure the fork has no movement, the seat post is still solid, and the axles are properly tightened. Then go ride.
