I’ve got the frame of a steel front rack I scavenger off a Blue Bike (broke off and was in the street), but it needs a bit of welding/fabrication. I can do that no prob.
Or just spend the $50 for a Gorix aluminum rack.
Any issues with aluminum cracking over time? I’m tempted by how much lighter it is than steel, just worried about aluminums longevity.

Build!!!! But an aluminum rack won’t crack; it’s not going to flex enough and won’t bear a load heavy enough to strain it
Nice 4130👌 I say just bend the top two wires hanging inward and tack them together to create a square “loop” and then just get steel brackets for the rest, you can probably fab up the whole thing without welding at all and just trim it up a bit. I think it looks cool and tough and most importantly….useful. keep us posted. Maybe hardware store run for some brackets and bolts and a lot of time standing in the isles and envisioning what you could use. I just got creative with my front rack like this
