We’re cycling northwards through Africa and have spent the past month cycling through Malawi. Apparently it’s nicknamed the ‘warm-heart of Africa’ because of the friendliness of its people and it is more than living up to its reputation. In Malawi you are never really alone, there’s always someone wanting to chat or say hi (or shout “mazungu!” – ‘foreigner’ excitedly at you!). Whenever we stop, wherever we are, it’s not long before a group of kids gather around to watch and laugh at the two strange, sweaty Mazungus. Malawi – terrible roads, amazing people.

I post bits from our trip on http://www.instagram.com/michaeldmacdonald for anyone who’s interested.
