You can cycle from Herne Hill in south London to Borough Market south of the river, entirely on quiet streets and protected cycle lanes.
The route is 8.5km long (5.3 miles) and makes use of the Railton LTN and Walworth LTN, as well as parts of Cycleway 14.

I love these videos 😊 We're moving back to London next year from Finland, and it's great to see how much London's cycling infrastructure has improved since we left London 11 years ago. I can't wait to be cycling there again. Cheers! 👍
Cycling around London with all the crunchy leaves and that autumn smell in the air is one of life's great joys.
It wouldn't be Sunday without your latest instalment: informative, useful and visually appealing.
Thanks
Keep up the great work, its giving me confidence riding on the road's
"92% increase in cycling" – where do you get this type of data, is it available online?
Another good quiet route. I have cycle some of the route in parts.
Would love to hear your thoughts on a route from Greenwich to Hackney Wick! Probably would mean going through the Greenwich foot tunnel though
A really interesting and gloriously autumnal route! Cheers! Agree this is probably the best way north from Brixton… I used to always use a very similar trajectory to get to London Bridge when I was in the area. Have to say Akerman Rd was always the most challenging bit for me back then tho, and also Barrington due to its poor surface 😂 More recently I've used that very same Redcross Way option to reach the market but always coming the other direction on C5, it's really handy. Maybe it was a key exit route for trucks back in the wholesale market days 🤔
London is beautiful all year round but autumn is even more special! Thanks again for sharing!
At Borough Market, with Redcross Way, isn't that the quickest way out of the one-way system in the market? Always seen delivery vans coming out of there. It's probably too busy and narrow to have safe a cycle contraflow.
When I cycle to Borough Market from south, I usually go in via Bermondsey Street and Tooley Street and under the bridge on Montague Close. It's unhelpfully narrow in a couple places, but I've never had a problem there as it tends to be quieter. Some very interesting buildings there to enjoy as well.
Also used Great Guildford Street and Park Street to get in. Park Street has a short protected cycle lane at one part where it's narrow. Would be a bit of a detour from Union Street, but might be better for some than dismounting and walking down a narrow pavement with vans coming the other way.
why have you speeded it up???
Hi,
That did not 'feel' like your normal level of 'quiet and protected cycle routes'
Not a complaint, just an observation
This channel has been great but I am now in need of a Manchester equivalent as I make the move up the country. Anyone have any recommendations?
That’s another great video. I’m struggling to find a good bike route from Hyde Park to Ealing Common. Do you have any suggestions?
Very creative route
Thanks
The delightfully-named "Enthrone Road" at 5:43 is actually Eythorne Road!
