I have a Zizzo folding bike and a Trek Hybrid. I ride the Zizzo 80% of the time because it is so easy to transport and it stays in my vehicle most of the time as it is so compact. Typically ride the Zizzo on 6-8 mile trails and the Trek on 10-12 mile trails. Zizzo has held up great over hundreds of miles.
Brompton bikes are practical extremely fun and robust, perfect means of transportation for all.
I commute on a folding bike, a zizzo forte. It's great
Bromptons are really fun! When folded, they'll actually pass the carry-on luggage dimensions for airlines, and whenever you get to where you are going , just fold the rear wheel under and it'll act as the kickstand.
Goliath on a Brompton! Great clean-up job. If only Litespeed would get into the compact market, I might get one!
Not a fan of the look but the design is pretty impressive.
Apparently clown bikes are a serious business ๐
Just joking, it's pretty cool.
I had a Brompton for a while they are awesome great fun.. people do long distance travelling on them to.. I unfortunately had to sell it ๐ข but they are and an amazing design which has stood the test of time.. ๐ Pete ๐ด๐ป๐
I have a Dahon folder from the late 80's. It's also a 16" wheel and doesn't have suspension like the Brompton does, but its still pretty comfortable to ride even for me at 6' tall. I dont think it folds up as small as a Brompton, but it also doesnt cost as much. I got mine for $40 at a swap meet, and i always see them on OfferUp for under $100.
They come wirh either an internal SA 3 speed or the one i have is a 5 speed with derailleur. They still make new ones today with a very similar design to the Brompton because i think the proprietary folding system patent ran out recently.
As you mentioned in the test ride, Sturmey Archer hubs like to shift while coasting in my experience. It's totally backwards to derailleurs where you want to pedal, but not with much torque. It makes you decide your gear before you hit the incline, essentially.
I dont think you mentioned in the video what brand the brakes are, and how well they performed. I would he interested in this.
You should be getting WAY more views than that commie "Bike Farmer"! Good video today brother
Definitely want one ๐๐ป
