  1. It probably goes inbetween the freehub body and the hub. Either that or that’s the bearing preload adjustment washer for the body bearings in which case the cassette should not spin backwards easily.

    Depending on the case it’s either a 5 minute job or another hour stacking bearings with tweezers.

    EDIT: or it’s a washer that goes inbetween the axle cone race and lock nut. Helps them not vibrate apart.

  2. I had to use one to get my brakes to line up. Put it outside the fork. Mostly likely the fork was bad though.
