Just wanted to share my most recent obsession. Bought and fixed up this bike in the early summer and its been a blast. I’ve been really enjoying having a lightweight steel bike for road riding and commuting, that can also handle some dirt.
I was concerned about the down tube friction shifters as I’d never ridden a bike with them in the past but they’ve been really delightful. It was easy to adjust and they are really satisfying to use.
I suspect it’s a 1983 Trek 700 but I’m not an expert. I think most of the components are not original but the stem and seat post are. I think I’ve finally gotten it to the point in which it doesn’t need more work or restoration. I’m thinking of leaving it as is, maybe get some nice road fenders for the winter.
Would love to hear y’alls thoughts on it and whether it needs anything else!
