I recently bought a smaller chainring for my grx in the hopes of having a wider range for climbs since my hometown is quite hilly, the original was a 30t, but now I can’t seem to shift my fd properly since I put it and has delays on shifting. Sometimes it just won’t go up to the higher gear or lower gear. I Just came back to a good mechanic to check and tune everything but the problem is reoccurring, what might be the cause? Any experiences or recommendations?

The capacity for the GRX front derailleur is 17t, meaning if the difference between the big and small rings is greater than that, it’s not going to work right. If you’ve still got the 46 on there, you’ve exceeded that.
If you are still runnign the 46t big ring, you are 1 tooth over capacity on the GRX FD which is 17t. (46-28 = 18).
But start by lowering your FD by like 2-3mm. There is still roome there and you might get away with it. But FD’s capacity is usually stricter than RD’s capacity (I’m running an 11-42 on a stock GRX RD…)
