  1. Why do rugby union player all insist on spinning the ball when they pass it? At 3 metres it's not going to make any difference to the trajectory or make it any easier to catch.

    And also, what on earth is a "challenge" about this exercise? Try catching a ball covered in mud, in driving wind and freezing rain and see how you get on vs a bit of soap and water.

    True story, back playing in the 80s my hands once got so cold that when went to pass I failed to let go of the ball, accidentally selling arguably the best dummy you've ever seen (so convincing it even fooled me!), a huge gap appeared and I ran half the length of the pitch and scored under the posts. It'd have made any "10 Best Tries of All Time" compilations if only someone had brought a camcorder…
