Wanted to swap out the flat bar with a drop bar with levers and stuff. Bought everything I need, but now there is this little problem. The brakes seem to be too short?
I would recommend getting “mini v brakes” best braking power you can get with that setup

The parts are wrong because you picked the wrong parts…

The frame and form use V-brakes. Would not be compatible with drop bar levers.
You may consider using a cheap adapter for the V-brakes or look for long-teach caliper brakes, but that 2nd option is not a guaranteed fit.

I think your fork is prepared for a v-brake system and not a dual pivot brakes

Classic case of trying to adapt the wrong part for the wrong type of mounts. Need mini V’s.

mini v or canti are the best option here.

Why can’t he just run road calipers with the correct reach? Are they not available?

is that a 26 or a 700wheel?

Use V brakes with a travel agent or mini-Vs
That hole is for attaching a mudguard.

Bought the V-Brake adapters as it seems like the cheaper and easier way. Thanks everyone for helping out. Learned new things. And among those things i learned today, is that I don’t know that much about bikes.

You do get really strong braking with your pads on the tire though… Once! ☠️🚑🩹

I’d take it to the LBS and get them to do it. It’ll probably save you money from buying the wrong parts again.

This brake is designed for the tyre. Tyre brakes!

Yeah, that’s a v brake fork. The brakes mount to those pegs that are sticking out. You’ve got that caliper mounted in ahold hole that’s drilled for fender mounting

Nah you’re good

You need a middle reach caliper, such as BR-R451. However, to actually mount this to your frame and fork, you might need two front calipers, which have the longer bolt. Since I can’t see the rear caliper mount here, it’s impossible to say. This is an important note you should be aware of though.

Yes, completely wrong. Probably just take it to a shop now, you’re gonna have to eventually.

You need V / Cantilever brakes. Or, a different fork. Either way, you are waaaaaaaaaaaaay off.

Don’t see a problem , rubber on rubber braking is the most extreme
