Looks like it’s a 1979 according to the serial number.

I picked up this Univega Sportour today from Offerup. It was listed only as “Bike” and had been up for a couple of months. Aftermarket fenders, seat and rack, but looks to be in amazing condition under all the dust!

A Sportour was my first road bike some twenty plus years ago. A buddy mine still rides it regularly. Nice lower level frame, produced by Miyata. They are super versatile sport tourers, I had mine set up in all many of ways and it did everything well. Brings back great memories of bombing around the gentle rolling hills of Forest Park with my bike friends back in the day.

Nice, I have this exact same bike. Mine looked the same when I got it, right down to the rack, fenders and brown cable housing.
I originally had 1981 for the year but I think 1980 is correct.

I would change the pedals as they are lower end than the bike. MKS makes some pedals that are a good match to the vintage of the bike.

Cleaned up the bike and put on some new Panaracers. It rides really smooth! Still haven’t decided what I’m going to do about the saddle (large gel seat) and pedals, but this bike is 58cm, so way too large for me. Likely going to sell it and let the new caretaker choose.

In case you are wondering, the stock brakes and derailleur will accommodate modern 700c and a 7 speed wheelset just fine. Here’s mine after I refurbished it: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Vintage_bicycles/comments/vosyei/1981_univega_sportour_refresh/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Vintage_bicycles/comments/vosyei/1981_univega_sportour_refresh/)
