Cruising in the Norwegian fjords has never been more popular. But Norway is divided about the economic benefits versus the environmental and social impact of cruise ships.

So, I decided to check out big ship cruising in Norway to see for myself what it’s all about from the perspective of the passengers.

This is the story of my trip on MSC Euribia in the Norwegian Fjords, including visits to the cruise ports of Ålesund, Nordfjordeid, and Flåm.

  1. Love it David, it looks like you had a great time, your videos are getting better and better mate 👍 I look forward to seeing your next installments 😊

  2. in contemplating a norwegian cruise, coming from the u.s., i have found your videos to be a great source of information. and i like your calm demeanor. one thing i learned from watching this video is that i am very much leaning towards havila. i am definitely not the floating holiday camp sort of person. at. all. yikes!

  3. Thanks, David. We did go on the Hurtigruten from Bødo to Svolvær and that was sufficient for us. We really don't agree that so many of the bigger cruise ships are allowed down the fjords, but how else will so many get to see them when alternate means of travel may not have the capacity?

  4. Great video, but I have one or two questions. We are thinking of booking this for end of September. Have you been to the port of Hellesylt? If you have, what sightseeing excursion would you recommend? The other 2 ports it will stop at are Alesund and flám. Thank you

  5. Great video, I am a tour operator and we have never done a cruise before and thought you gave a really good persepctive. I am leaning towards smaller ships now, thanks for the great upload! What month did you prefer to go on these cruises? thanks!
