We invite you to experience one of the UK’s best kept holiday secrets. Whether you are a hiker, biker or just a lover of the great outdoors this uncongested area of outstanding natural beauty awaits your exploration.
The area is crisscrossed with Roman roads & ideal for cycling enthusiasts who wish to experience the Hadrian’s Cycleway (National Route 72).
About Cooper Cottage
Cooper Cottage was built around 1838 & was the home of John Ray & his son Irving who were both very well respected stonemasons & sculptors. Many of their works can be seen in & around Wigton & a few features can be seen around the cottage & garden.
The property is traditionally built in sandstone & has been tastefully renovated keeping the charm of the period. The accommodation comprises a sitting room with log burner, reception room with digital TV, galley kitchen, dining area, 2 double bedrooms, bathroom with shower.
Cycles can be safely stored in the hallway. All bedding & towels are provided. A sofa bed provides a further double enabling a maximum of 6 people. Full broadband facilities. View our video on Facebook.
Hadrian’s Wall Walk
The HADRIAN’S WALL PATH runs between Bowness-on- Solway on the Cumbrian coast & continues for 84 miles finishing in Wallsend on Tyneside. The start at Bowness is only a 20 minute drive away from Wigton & is certainly worth making the effort to walk the first part of the historic Roman wall path built in AD122.
