See them fighting for power, but they know not the hour.
It's not about volume, its about economy. Can you position your forces adroitly? In other words, can you utilize the terrain? Can you hit something that can't hit you? Can you resupply to the front more efficiently than the enemy? Can you adjust on enemy responses to take advantage of opportunistic gaps, or even incite the actions without him knowing it? Can you entice him, for example to redeploy defenses away from a place he doesn't think you want to attack, though it is actually vulnerable? Do you have intelligence on such vulnerabilities without telegraphing your intent to capitalize on them? It's not only about force movement or mobility, it is about the method or style of those movements so as to disguise intentions. On those fronts, Russia won this war a long time ago. As long as they can continue doing this they will continue to win. If they don't capitalize on these gains, however, attrition will take their toll and they will teeter into or toward a growingly Pyrrhic victory.
