This video is for mycological research purposes, in order to help other mycologists in correctly identifying the right soil types, habitat, indicator plants, key identification features, and similar species to avoid.

Below are some useful resources such as a soil acidity map of the UK, an online database consisting of species and location they have been found previously, and an active Facebook community that I run, where you can chat with me and 50,000 other people about this fantastic mushroom.

  1. One question please 🤔 whats your thoughts on regeneration?? Do u pick and flick? Leave the root ball in the ground? Is there any proven way to pick and help respaw the muchrooms?

  2. Used to love going out picking, bottle of Fanta to kill the taste then one down the neck then a few in the bag. Ribbleshead viaduct was great and nearest to home York racecourse.

  3. I’m in the tropics and friends of mine here tell me magix grow in the pastures where the cows graze. It’s nearly the end of the rainy season so shall take a walk and see if I see any. Cheers❤

  4. In 1982 we picked over 900 one day and fired the lot into a pot and made Psilly Tea. I think there were 6 or 7 of us who took a cup each. It was the strongest trip any of us had ever been on, to this day I still remember all of us walking the streets for hours going through the motions, I was coming up for hours…and some nice soft Leb for the come down..those were the days as a 17 year old 😂😂

  6. AMAZING VIDEO BRO 👊🏽 They thrive so well in South Wales. I find about 200-m 300m is their optimum altitude in Wales
Also if theres sheep, cows (manure) in the area

I find if you find one, because of the mycelium you’ll find more near by hidden in clumps

They tend to stay away from the wind

  7. plenty of them in Ireland, i found fields that havent been ploughed in years are good for finding them, watch out for the bulls, few close calls in my day and pesky porkers

  8. There is a field next to my house and they are everywhere!! Found out later that the patch where they all grow is over a mass grave for people who died in the Black Death lol didn’t stop me from going back though 😂 picking soothes my soul ❤
