  1. Unfortunately, divorced from its Catholic theological and spiritual significance which ended with the dissolution of the monasteries and the destruction of the shrines, modern “pilgrims” are little more than tourists romantically attempting to relive the past. Ruined monasteries and empty shrines is the reality that no matter how much one pretends can never recapture the past.

  2. So instead of glorifying the old works, trying to intergrate them into a more '' modern '' world we just fuck it off, make the place look as miserable as possible !

  3. Greetings 😊, l just wanted to add my appreciation of those who compiled this series❤; and had the forethought to have Sir David Suchet as the narrator! Their constructions, decorativity in stone/glass/marquetry/and other media were quite a feat and feast for the senses! Plus one can take one's time to view all whilst listening to the music and verses of one's youth!😊❤ Best Regards, J.I.M.K Mrs. (Not Damien, his Mother.) Brisbane, Australia ❤ 🇦🇺 😀 🪃

  4. An amazing documentary program with the great David Suchet. Unfortunately, in current times there is a problem with the clergy, with numerous sexual and financial scandals, among others, left unresolved and swept under the rug. Reality sadly tarnishes the picture presented in the program.

  5. My mother, an Englishwoman through and through, married my father, an American soldier after WWII. When I was born, my mother insisted I be christened in England as a good Angelican. So, traveling from Wyoming to England, I was christened in my mother's village church. I suppose I could say that that journey was a pilgrimage of sorts.

  6. Reverend Canon Matthew Rushton was PRECENTOR at Canterbury Cathedral before his new role at Rochester. Salisbury Cathedral's new Dean Nick Papadopulos was also Canon Treasurer at Canterbury at the same time. The BBC made a documentary series during their time in Canterbury.

  7. "Death of Jesus Christ"?! What about His Resurrection? Christians don't worship a God who's dead never to rise again and not able to give hope. Dead gods are galore in this world. As Apostle Paul put it: If Christ didn't rise from the dead, then we are the most to be pitied of all the peoples!
