In recent news of Chesterfield Canal getting a brand new multi million pound footbridge over the Staveley stretch, I thought I’d give the site a visit.
I haven’t fished chesterfield canal much over recent years but as a kid growing up in Calow and our push bikes having unlimited fuel, I fished every clinch of the place.
So to keep it angling related and some future videos being based on here, I thought I’d bring you along with me this morning for a nosey.
All the locals seem happy, the work is going well, yesterday saw the project abortion of the bridge being fitted simply because the ground was too soft for the crane to anchor down. So Monday 21st October should see the crane return for the grand finale.
Few fish spotted, great water quality and ultimately a beautiful part of the canal.
There’s also plans to extend the canal towards Renishaw and in the future link it back up to where it starts again in Kiveton. You can guarantee I’ll be there along the journey.
Stay tuned for a Chesterfield Canal session soon.
