Our SPBW West Riding branch October meeting and pub award followed by a pub crawl around Halifax. Lots of good pubs and lots of variety. Halifax is truly a hidden gem for pubs. Let me know which pub you liked best, where I missed and where I need to visit.

Another great video Ethan, I really like the pans rounds the pubs just with music. Nice to see Ken in character “do you do Camra discount “ in København, you can take the boy out of Lancashire but you can’t take Lancashire out of the boy 😅. That barman in the Grayston Unity needs lessons in how to hold a beer glass, I hope his fingers were clean 🤮
In these pubs in Britian do they let you have a taste sample for free; or, do they offer a sampler tray of six or so small glasses to taste for a price? There are so many bloody chioces there! I hate paying money for something if don't like the taste. In the brewerys here in Missoula, they will let you have a few free tastes to narrow it down to what you want.
Yeah, if I walk into a bar and it smells like a dirty rag or dirty mop, or worse, I bail.
Victorian looks a great boozer…not been Halifax for over 30 years watch Salford RL playing there. If u do the Leeds/Manc Ale Trail..get the longest journey done first to avoid needing a piss after all the ale😂 I was in Manchester at the time so did it from Leeds backwards. Great vid Ethan👍🍺
I agree with slurpydave. You could swap the pipes over on the tens of keg craft beers and nobody would know. There's such a variety of real ale nowadays that its impossible to choose. They do all fall into a handful of categories so you can at least look for a bitter or IPA. Suppose its a good thing as in the 70's the game was to get the breweries to produce some real ale. In those days when there were tied houses, you sought out breweries and visited their pubs. Tied houses still exist. What is possible thank God, is to avoid the many beers with added 'flavours'. How can you have a gin and tonic flavoured ale?
another great video. losing my mind over all those cask ales. i think i've only seen a cask ale once where i live (it's not a tradition in california haha). a local brewer made one firkin and charged about $9 for a pint (our pints are 16 oz/473 ml if poured correctly-RARE!- compared to 19 oz imperial pint in the UK). unfortunately it's mostly all about the hop bombs here. do you get many problems wearing a Combat 84 shirt?
Another great vid
Great video. Shame about the Dukes being a cashless bar!
ive brought Americans here and they utterly loved it!!!
The Victorian I mean.
Bit of Weezer there! Visit Todmorden!
pub 3 cashless – boycott for me im afraid – others look good . thanks for posting.
Missed out Meandering Bear, but otherwise spot on that.
