We took a short ferry from mainland Italy to Messina, Sicily and rode along the coast through many beautiful towns before turning inland to reach Scicli. The riding between Messina and Syracuse was challenging due to lots of unpredictable traffic on the coastal roads, but got a lot better once we made it to Syracuse and joined up with the EuroVelo 7.
The weather in Sicily was incredible this time of year, and we were happy to have so much sunshine after cold and windy conditions in Greece and mainland Italy.
Our route from Messina to Scicli was roughly 200 miles/322 km and took us 5 days.

Wow! I loved that episode. You know, with those great images, the relaxed music, both of your personalities, it's like a movie to me 🙂 The dog at the beginning was hilarious and the light at the end, wow!
Beautiful!Keep going!
Fantastic opening scene !
Nice narration and smooth editing.
Felt like I was there myself.
(Collection of wild camp sites can be a book itself.) Really admire the strength and easiness of you two.
Thanks again for the video.
I’m going to watch it again, for sure.
Good Chill Video !!
Here from reddit and loved the video. Will you be hitting Pozzollo in the next video? Looking forward to seeing more. Safe travels!
Great to see this video of your experiences. When we toured Sicily in 2013 we took trains along the east coast from Giardini Naxos to Syracuse and up to Modica, as we did not fancy the heavier traffic there. We rode the whole south and west of the island. We found that generally Italians look poorly upon wild camping (most land is owned, fenced and used). As the camping grounds were mostly 5-10kms out of town by a beach, and 20-30 euro, we mostly took a 2-3 star hotel for 50-80 euro with breakfast included and secure parking for our bikes. I did not go to Italy for the beach life.
Lovely shots
Thank you again for sharing your European winter in southern Italy. From one little scrappy dog to a very big dog that just seemed bothered by your presence , your adventure through Sicily was beautifully produced.
All the best… enjoy and ride safe…Ted
Hey! Amazing trip and very nice video guys 🙂 We "almost" met in Sicily. I have just started with bike packing and was in Ragusa a month ago. Amazing place. Planing to go around Etna this year and maybe next year will go around the whole island. All good to you and safe roads 🙂
Nice episode, I had to google 60 degrees F to see what it was in Celsius (~16, BTW), that is pretty good for March BTW!
So happy I found your channel. Your travels are inspiring me to set up my bike and head off into the unknown.
Thanks for sharing.
Awesome videos. You're great!!! Thanks for creating these beautiful stories! I really admire you guys
great video! looks like an old electric-powered railway track about 8 minutes in.
