Hey guys! π I get a ton of questions about front load washing machines. They work really well to keep your clothes clean but can sometimes trap water and create a mess. In this video I will show you how I perfectly clean a front load washing machine and keep it that way for years to come!

Thanks for all the tips, doing this this weekend.
I never clean that filter often enough, so I will go do it now. I have an LG front loader machine which has a magnetic latch that keeps the door open so air can circulate. No mold, ever.
Thank You!!!β€
Used a top load Whirlpool washer for 26 years. No maintenance, no issues, just clean clothes. Moved, got a front loader set with the dryer placed on top for space. Now that I can't get down on my knees anymore I have to get to the floor, look out the bottom of my glasses where the bifocals are and work that hose and filter out. There's not a thin enough tray to hold all the water that comes out plus the foot of the washer blocks any container I've tried. So I stuff towels around it. It's an ordeal. I have to use a chair to sit to get laundry in and out and then can barely hold those seals open to clean. I was able to pay a handyman to deep clean it once but I can't afford that every month. Plus I can't pre-soak anything anymore. I hate these machines.
Please do one for top loaders π’
Very helpful, thank you.
Handy dandy toothbrush. I see you.
Every month, when cleaningcmy front loader, i remove the detergent tray, & pop it in my dishwasher! Works a treat & cleans all them nooks n crannies π While thats washing i then clean inside drawer compartment & inside rubber seal…result..gleaming washer!!
Unfortunately my Front Loader Electrolux doesn't have a front drain door, and it sits propped up. I am not able to move my self, but I do the monthly maintenance and thank you for the gasket stuff. Makes me sick looking at it. along with the trays.
When you did the cleaning cycle did you do the vinegar and the tablet in the same cleaning cycle? Or did you do them in two separate cleaning cycles? Wasnβt sure if they would interact with each other.
I have LG front load washing machine that I bought it back then in 2014, from HHGREGG (RIP). Back then I saw video where someone suggested to clean wipe the gasket part after each wash to prevent building up molds. That's what I have been doing from day 1, and this thing still looks quite clean and free from molds. I use the same cleaning tablet every month. Also, I put the vinegar in the softener tray with each load itself. πβ
Thanks Great video! We cleaned the filter but the black tube seems to be clogged- Can we clean that out too or do you have a video on how to clean that out ? Thanks soooo much!
A very simple way to reduce the cleaning of your front loader it to always leave door and dispenser drawers open open so it drys everything out mould likes moisture π
How did I not know to do this ever. Thanks for sharing. I'll teach my kids so they know now. Much love. π
I also keep the door open the the washing machine, but it is still very dirty, I am going to try this method. Linda
If youβre using liquid detergent cleaning the seal is barely touching the surface. The whole inside outer side of the inner tub and tub surround is covered in this nasty stuff. I just disassembled my whole machine and had to do it a few years ago as well. Iβll by trying the powder detergent this round and seeing if it builds back up. We drain, leave door open, and wipe seal all the time.
I'm being ripped
Very helpful. Thank you
I keep door open too, however now that I see this I doubt I"ll ever get another front loader. too gross for me and who the heck has time to do this once a month???
Does it need to be Dawn?
We don't use our dispenser tray and just add powder on top of our laundry inside our front-loading washer's drum because so far no clumping, better fir environment to use a box of powder, and we were told lots of machines develop issues from using the dispenser tray.
MY QUESTION however is this: if I pull out my tray and look at the area inside the chute (behind tray), will it be gross like in this video anyway? Maybe all the dirty water and gunk just goes everywhere even when one doesn't use the tray?
Thanks!
Thanks for confirming that I'll never buy a front-loader washer. I've had a top loader/non-agitator washer for about 10 years now and I really love it. It uses less water and my clothes come out clean. The model I have has a spout built in so that I can rinse something out in the drum if I need to. Every person I know who has a front loader, has the smelliest laundry room ever! When you neglect that rubber gasket and the sludge builds up, there is nothing to get the stink out.
thank you so much it really works what you showed
thank you, i will try this right now.
Loved your channel.
And I'm messy person who kinda like to become clean.
Yuck. I know what I'm doing this week
Sorry. This is great but not enough. The real mess is when you canβt reach, behind the drum. It canβt be cleaned.
One thing you forgot , you should take your drawer out where your detergent goes in and rinse it set it upside down to dry and hand dry the inside of the dispenser on the machine.
Take a cloth after washing and dry the wet spots, take the detergent drawer out and dry it with the cloth. Let the door open, and dry out. No mold after 5 years, machine is like new.
That washing machine is not cleaned regularly enough. My machine has never looked like that. The scrub daddy will scratch causing a better environment for mould to grow. Spray it with mould cleaner and let it do its job
in the detergent drawer the jets at the top where the water comes out get filthy, I always struggle cleaning those, the gap is too small for my hand.
I always remove the draw after every wash and dry it outside and leave it out of the machine until next use, I leave the machine door wide open, dry out like he said. My 10 year old machine looks like new inside and out.
I wish the light would stay on. My machine is in a closet, and there is a light but it is near the back of the closet and doesnβt illuminate inside the mavhine
Gosh I never knew washing machine can be that gross and dirty !
Good one
This was so informative!
I wipe my machine down when i have finished the washing i pull back the seal and dry it all round . My machine is 8yrs old and no sighn of mold any where i always keep the door open …
Iβm really happy that you shared the links for all the products you used. This is my first front load machine and I hate that if I leave the door closed it has a terrible smell afterwards I was worried about my clothes having the same smell. That magnet is exactly what I needed because my washer and dryer are in a closet and if I leave the door open sometimes it gets caught on the closet door, this will keep it from swinging open too far! Thanks for all the tips I now know how to keep it clean and keep the odor out!
