New bike arrived yesterday, brand new from a reputable shop.
Took the chain off, threw it in the silca pot and check the rest of the bike. Some stuff weren’t installed correctly etc. That’s ok. Took pics and sent it to the shop.
Went and reinstalled the chain, was looking for the quick link to wet lube and found this and another one like it – flat top chain link that’s inverted.
I don’t know what to think of this – I don’t think a reputable shop would purposefully put a fake/defective chain on my build. But I also don’t believe Sram’s QC would be this bad.
Pretty disappointed as it means I can’t ride this bike as is. And if it was an average consumer that just received their new bike, they would’ve inadvertently reduced the life of this very expensive drivetrain for no fault on their own.

That’s all on SRAM quality control. They go and design a stupid flat top chain, and then can’t make them right.

What brand bike is it? I’ve worked at trek and giant dealers. Everting except for super high end stuff comes with majority of components installed.
Bike shop should submit a warranty and get you a new chain
