IF you like it that way, clear coat the bike. It’ll take DECADES for it to become an issue. If you don’t like it like that, steel wool and some wd40 until it’s gone. Clean with mineral spirits or some other cleaner to remove the WD40 residue, and then clear coat. Once it’s started rusting that spot will always be prone to it.

Rust on the tubes usually isn’t big deal. Rust in the welds is a completely different story.

Attempting to cure it will just make things worse.

WD-40 is the devil.Great way to ruin a bike since the product was designed to displace moisture not clean or lubricate.Water Displacement formula #40 is where its name came from.Use a good metal polish for steel pans and a cloth it will clean and seal the metal to slow down the rust.

If you’re able, clear coat spray paint. If not, check hobby shops for a brush on clear coat that’ll stick to the metal. If that’s not an option, girlfriend’s (or boyfriend’s) clear nail polish.
