  1. Shimano brake pads should be replaced when there is less than 0.5 mm of material left or the spring starts intefering with the rotor. In the photos it looks like comfortably more than 0.5 mm.

  2. The fact that they have a step in the friction material indicates that the caliper isn’t mounted correctly. You’ll want to fix that, then get new pads.

    I’d say they have some life left, but they need to be sanded to remove the lip. That lip means there’s something wrong with the caliper/rotor setup and the caliper is sitting high. One pad looks like it might be thicker than the other too, which, if it’s hydraulic, means you’ve probably got a sticky piston
