Where do I buy a second hand bike in The Netherlands? Where can I find cheap bike parts?

You will find them at a recycling store, Kringloopwinkel in Dutch. Find lots of other recycled and second hand items at these shops such as Rataplan here in Delft. Another good place to get good quality bike parts is Decathlon store found in most big cities.

DECATHLON also sells this popular folding bike https://bit.ly/3Cl0Alq

The Netherlands is a great place to explore by bike. With fantastic infrastructure for cycling, and generally flat topography The Netherlands offers nice riding. Cycle through farmland, forest, and city. The Netherlands is easy riding due to it being flat but also very well connected by cycle paths( fietspads) and trains. Getting provisions is simple as there are shops and supermarkets in each town and also bike shops to get your bike fixed if necessary. I would recommend cycling in the Netherlands to beginner cycle tours and advanced riders, you will enjoy riding in this fantastic cycling paradise!

You don’t have to spend hundreds to get a folding bike that you can use for an international cycle tour. Second hand folding bikes can be excellent value if you are prepared to do any repairs yourself! Small repairs and replacing any worn out parts can be done with simple tools and these light weight bikes can be stored easily in a cupboard or under a bed.

  1. One warning: not every kringloopwinkel has that many bikes. Some donโ€™t sell bikes and some have only a few in stock. There are also stores that sell 2nd hand bikes only, but those arenโ€™t named kringloopwinkel.

  2. Trying to work this out. Are you still in the Netherlands, or back in NZ? If former, you're doing well, living on a budget. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I'v got four of those President bikes; 2 with V brakes and 6 Shimano gears. They are quite sturdy and you can easily replace them with universal parts. They have the strongest steering wheel folding mechanisms, but they are no longer build. They are my favorite but you can only buy them secondhand. I pay about 20 euro max for such a bike in a crappy condition and fix them so they are in top condition to use.
Next time install an app in which citizens sell their bikes and stuff and you will pay significantly less for such a bike.
